Hyperbolic geometry In complex analysis, we learn that the upper half-plane H = {Im z > 0} has a large group of conformal automorphisms, consisting of Möbius transformations of the form (1.1) γ : z → az + b cz + d , where a, b, c, d ∈ R and ad − bc > 0. The Schwarz Lemma implies that all au-tomorphisms of H are of this type. Since the transformation is unchanged by a simultaneous rescaling of a, b, c, d, the conformal automorphism group of H is identified with the matrix group

Bending, buckling and free vibration responses of hyperbolic shear deformable FGM beams
This study investigated bending, buckling, and free vibration responses of hyperbolic shear deformable functionally graded (FG) higher order beams. The material properties of FG beams are varied through thickness according to power law distribution; here, the FG beam was made of aluminium/alumina, and the hyperbolic shear deformation theory was used to evaluate the effect of shear deformation i...
متن کاملOn Static Bending, Elastic Buckling and Free Vibration Analysis of Symmetric Functionally Graded Sandwich Beams
This article presents Navier type closed-form solutions for static bending, elastic buckling and free vibration analysis of symmetric functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams using a hyperbolic shear deformation theory. The beam has FG skins and isotropic core. Material properties of FG skins are varied through the thickness according to the power law distribution. The present theory accounts fo...
متن کاملSpectra of Hyperbolic Surfaces
These notes attempt to describe some aspects of the spectral theory of modular surfaces. They are by no means a complete survey.
متن کاملNotes for Lectures at Tsinghua Daxue
These are very schematic notes for lectures given at Tsinghua in July 2016. Setting : convex co-compact hyperbolic surfaces. I have chosen this setting because it appears in so many different areas of mathematics and gives rise to interesting problems for resonances, many of which still have not been answered. I will not talk about Pollicott–Ruelle resonances since covering both kinds of resona...
متن کاملLength equivalent hyperbolic manifolds
In the case when M is an orientable Riemannian manifold of negative curvature L (M) and L(M) are related to the eigenvalue spectrum of M; that is, the set E (M) of all eigenvalues of the Laplace–Beltrami operator acting on L2(M) counted with multiplicities. For example, in this setting it is known that E (M) determines L(M) (see [3]). In the case of closed hyperbolic surfaces, the stronger stat...
